Summary
Hands-Free Trivia is a voice-controlled trivia game. The app needs microphone and speech recognition access to listen for spoken answers. Most gameplay data is stored locally on your device.
The app also uses analytics and crash-reporting tools to understand usage and diagnose failures. You may also choose to allow anonymous voice snippet sharing to help improve speech recognition.
Information we collect
- Voice input processed during gameplay after you grant microphone and speech recognition permissions.
- Optional anonymous audio snippets that you explicitly allow the app to upload to improve speech recognition in noisy environments.
- Gameplay and app usage events, such as session activity, quiz answers, selected categories, and app lifecycle events.
- Device, app, and diagnostic information collected through analytics and crash reporting, which may include identifiers, technical logs, and approximate region or locale data.
- Locally stored app data on your device, such as onboarding choices, game stats, and cached app configuration.
How we use information
- To run voice-based gameplay and recognize spoken answers.
- To provide offline-ready game functionality.
- To measure app performance and feature usage.
- To detect, investigate, and fix crashes or technical issues.
- To improve speech-recognition quality when optional audio sharing is enabled.
Voice recordings
The app can create local recordings while listening for answers. These recordings are used for speech recognition during gameplay.
If you do not enable optional audio sharing, those recordings are not uploaded for training or improvement purposes. If you enable audio sharing, the app may upload eligible recordings without your name or account information to storage selected by region.
Third-party services
Hands-Free Trivia uses third-party services including:
- PostHog for product analytics.
- Sentry for crash reporting and diagnostics.
- Firebase Hosting and related backend infrastructure.
These providers may process technical data needed to deliver their services, subject to their own privacy terms.
Tracking and advertising
Hands-Free Trivia is not designed to track you across other companies’ apps or websites for advertising purposes.
Data retention
Data stored locally on your device remains there until you remove the app or clear the app data through your device settings. Uploaded diagnostics or optional audio snippets may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary to operate, secure, and improve the service.
Your choices
- You can deny microphone or speech recognition permissions, though core voice gameplay may not function correctly without them.
- You can decline optional anonymous audio sharing during onboarding.
- You can stop using the app and remove local data by uninstalling it.
Children
Hands-Free Trivia is a general-audience trivia game. If a parent or guardian believes a child has sent us personal information by mistake, they can contact us and we will review the request and, if appropriate, delete the information.
